EXOTIC BIRDS ENTERTAIN WITH FLYING COLOURS
AT CANADA PREMIER BIRD SHOW THIS WEEK-END

Richmond Hill, ON,

February 17, 2024

Well over a thousand visitors are expected to flock to the Canadian National Cage Bird Show & Expo, Canada largest annual bird show, on October 19 and 20, 2024. The Show is hosted by The Budgerigar and Foreign Bird Society of Canada, a Toronto-based bird club.

Canada top bird competition is designed for pet-bird owners, breeders, exhibitors and fans of exotic birds. The birds on display include finches, canaries, budgies, conures, cockatoos, macaws and more. The family-friendly Show & Expo promises plenty of fun, as well as the chance to learn more about a range of exotic bird species. Members of the public have the opportunity to:

  • See hundreds of colourful birds on display, including top award-winning birds.
  • Watch the judging of many exotic species by 11 judges from England, Italy, Canada and USA, on Saturday morning.
  • View curated exotic bird displays featuring four different habitats.
  • Stock up on pet and bird-breeding supplies from a range of vendors of birds, bird food and treats, cages, bird toys and books, videos, bird-related crafts, and more at the Bird Marketplace.
  • Enter our daily raffle and silent auction for a chance to win great prizes.

Club President Gary D’Ornellas said: At the Show, we get visitors from Toronto, the GTA, many parts of Ontario and other provinces, as well as from the United States and even the Caribbean! The show is not just for exhibitors to show their birds and win prizes: we also attract many people who may be considering adding a pet bird to their household. Our vendors have birds for sale, cages, food, toys and accessories. There are also great gift items available, perfect for the upcoming holiday season.

Show Manager Jeremy Faria added: We are happy that people from all walks of life attend the show, including many who want to purchase a bird, perhaps even their first; expert breeders, and those who want to start breeding birds; and families who simply want their children to enjoy the beauty of all the colourful, exotic birds. The judging offers people who aren’t as familiar with bird shows the chance to learn about different species of birds, whatever their interest may be.

The event takes place at the Richmond Green Sports Centre, located at 1300 Elgin Mills Road East in Richmond Hill. It is open to the public on Saturday, October 19 from 11:00 am to 4:00 p.m., and on Sunday, October 20 from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.. There is ample free parking on-site. Admission is $15 for adults, $10 for seniors/children, and a special family rate of $25 (two adults and two children). There is also a two-day Adult Pass for $20.
